A good day

A little sewing to start the day.

I made progress on my Ruby tops. Just the binding and the hem on the rayon to finish.

We headed downtown mid-morning and found a bounty of produce at the Farmers Market. We enjoyed some tomato and lettuce on sandwiches for lunch and I made a modified version of Thai Chopped Salad for dinner. We snacked on the cherries throughout the day.

Today is also Day 1 of Tour de Fleece and I have a simple goal this year. I’d like to spin this braid of polwarth and 3-ply it.

The long weekend is off to a great start.

a January of Life Book

After taking an online painting class last year, I was excited for more art lessons and wanted to make art into a regular practice. So when I heard about Life Book 2015, I jumped onboard.

This is what January looked like:

Week 1 — Beacon of Light

So far, Life Book has been both instructional and inspiring. I’m enjoying it thoroughly!
Now to work on more of the February lessons…

FO: Handspun Hat

I finished up my second handspun hat a week or so ago and have been wearing it quite a bit since it turned cold.  I took advantage of this weekend’s warmer 40F temps to take a photo.

I love this hat! It was knit with this lovely 2-ply handspun,

Rhinebeck goodies

October is one of my favorite months — full of fall beauty, birthdays, and Rhinebeck.

This year, I was able to take spinning classes with Jacey Boggs & Abby Franquemont on the Thursday and Friday before the festival officially started. Sherry, Kristen, Julia and I stayed in Woodstock at a lovely house in the woods. It was a lovely fiber-filled vacation with lots of yummy food. Next year, I’ll have to take more pictures!

Here are the goodies I brought home:

An awesome skirt from Crispina (there was a gift certificate in my class goodie bag, so I went for it); hand creme from Maggie’s Farm; Jalapeño Ketchup; Heel, Fig Flatter, & travel size packets from Soak, spinning oil from Carolina Homespun; Fiber and Yarn from Gale’s Art, Into the Whirled, Loop, Spinner’s Hill, and Everything Coopworth.

I also found these awesome mugs at Jenny‘s booth and brought home some fiber and food gifts for friends and co-workers. The button is a gift from Casey at Tangerine Designs (she’s awesome and makes awesome things!).
